Betting and trading risk

The different areas have different features, but vary most in their risk to return ratio. Here is a brief explanation:

Share trading is the safest option. You may lose your initial capital, but no more. In general almost all shares will win dividends over the course of the game, and most shares will have a value at the end of game. Trading frequently may increase your return by speculating, but you may lose out.

Outcome betting is a bit more risky. Backing a bet, betting that the outcome will happen, you lose your stake if the bet doesn't happen, but you gain the stake multiplied by the odds if the outcome occurs. Laying a bet, taking the role of the bookie and hoping the outcome doesn't happen, is more risky especially if the odds are greater than one. In both cases for a single bet your exact gain and loss is easy to calculate.
